The city of Bloomington, MN welcomes you and your family! Bloomington is a rather large city that caters to both the upper class tier and middle class families. Bloomington Public Schools Independent School District #271 covers the entire area of Bloomington. There are several schools in the area servicing thousands of students and received one of the largest school bonds in Minnesota history with over $107 million dollars for renovations. There are 10 elementary schools for grades K-5, three junior high schools for grades 6-8 and two high schools for grades 9-12. Along with public schools there are five private schools including two parochial schools, and two Lutheran schools. As well as primary and secondary schools, Bloomington has one community college, one Health Science University and a small Christian missionary college. Nothing's more frustrating then moving to a new city and not knowing where anything is, especially important places like the Motor Vehicle office. Bloomington, MN wants to take the hassle out of moving away by offering online services and having convenient office hours. Office hours are Monday from 8:00a.m. to 7:00p.m. and Tuesday thru Friday 8:00a.m. to 5:30p.m. A piece of advice from the Motor Vehicle Department is to visit the office during the middle of the month if possible. The office is most busy during the beginning and end of the month. The Motor Vehicle Department is located at 9930 Logan Avenue South and can be reached at (952) 563-8719 or TTY (952) 563-8740.

The city of Bloomington cares about its residents so much that they have developed a very organized and efficient Neighborhood Crime Watch. The Bloomington Police Department has realized that neighborhood watch programs are essential in keeping neighborhoods safe and crime free. Any neighborhood can participate, whether you own your home, rent a home or live in a multi-unit facility. The Housing Redevelopment Authority or the HRA is in place in Bloomington, MN to establish a better city. The HRA consists of five City Council members helping residents with housing, preserving neighborhoods and promoting the redevelopment in the city.
